Serving as Apex High School's Athletic Director since July 1, 2022, Coach Rob Weidenburner brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the local community since 2007. His journey includes a role as the athletic director at Alston Ridge MS, where he not only opened the school but also played a pivotal role in shaping its identity, creating the school logo, mascot, and colors.
Coach Weidenburner's career extends beyond administrative roles, with coaching experience in New Hyde, NY, and an impressive track record as an athletic director since 2013. Throughout his tenure, he has actively engaged with the community, securing valuable resources and contributing to the overall success of the athletic department. His strong work ethic and commitment to preserving Apex High School's traditions while introducing new ideas highlight his leadership style.
Coach Weidenburner is married to his high school sweetheart, Jen, and has two children, Zachary and Alexa. Actively participating in Cougar family events throughout the year, Coach and his family bring a sense of community to the athletic department. Grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Athletic Director, he sees this role as both a dream and an honor. Coach Weidenburner remains dedicated to maintaining the tradition of excellence at the 4A level while preserving Apex's historical small-town charm.
